Astros All-Star catcher Jason Castro has been one of the few bright spots for the club this season. Unfortunately, his breakout season is now over. In a press release Tuesday afternoon, the club announced that Castro was being placed on the 15-day disabled list with continued discomfort in his right knee. The release also stated that Castro "will not appear in a game for the remainder of the season."

Castro aggravated his knee on Sept. 2 and had a cyst drained from it the following day. It has bothered him since. He tore his ACL in that same knee in 2011, so it's been an ongoing problem for the 26 year old.

Castro hit .276/.350/.485 with 35 doubles, 18 homers, 56 RBI and 63 runs scored this season. Despite missing all but two games since hurting his knee Sept. 2, Castro still leads the club in doubles, and runs. His .835 OPS dwarfs every other regular, too.
