Ian Kinsler's homer gives Rangers first lead in 63 innings

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

The Texas Rangers entered Tuesday night's game in Tropicana Field mired in a seven-game losing streak. What's worse, they hadn't even had a single lead during the entire streak. The last lead the Rangers had heading into Tuesday was Sunday, Sept. 8. So they'd trailed for a span of 63 innings.

Until Ian Kinsler did this on the first pitch:

That's like ripping off a band-aid. Just tear that sucker off and get it over with.

Despite having lost 13 of their past 16, the Rangers still entered Tuesday with a half-game lead on the second wild-card spot in the American League. Four teams were within 2.5 games, though, so they really need to bust out of the slump as soon as possible. Kinsler's homer was a good start (it's actually 5-0 Rangers at the time I'm posting this).
