WATCH: Giancarlo Stanton destroys a baseball

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Sorry, Mr. Rawlings, you are about to meet your maker -- because Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton wants to hit a ball over Planet Hoagie:

Initial estimates pegged the moonshot at 463 feet. Amazingly, that's only the 17th longest homer of the season. Evan Gattis' 486-foot shot is the leader in the clubhouse.

This was, however, Stanton's longest homer of the year. Let's also appreciate the amazing power displayed based upon pitch location and swing. The pitch was low and hit toward the end of Stanton's bat. His back leg collapsed on the swing, too, which should mitigate some power.

And he still hit it 463 feet.

Well done, Mr. Stanton.
