With a 9-1 win at home over the Twins on Saturday, the Athletics clinched at least a share of the AL West title for the 2013.

The A's won the division in 2012 and are thus on the brink of winning consecutive division crowns for the first time since 2002-03. They're also close to clinching the 25th postseason berth in franchise history. The A's will lock up the division with their next win or the next Rangers loss. The two teams will not meet again in the regular season.

Oakland is presently two games behind the Red Sox for top overall seed in the American League and, thus, home-field advantage throughout the playoffs (recall that the AL won the All-Star Game and thus secured home-field advantage in the World Series).

While the A's have become something of a fixture in the postseason despite their low payrolls, they've advanced past the opening round only once since 1990.
