Well, it's now late September, and, as Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times tweets, Crain is still battling that same injury. In fact, he's yet to throw a pitch for the Rays, and, as Topkin notes, it's quite possible that Crain won't pitch at all this season, even if Tampa Bay makes the playoffs.
That's too bad for Crain and the Rays, as Crain, when healthy, has been one of the most reliable right-handed setup men around. Across parts of 10 major-league seasons, Crain has pitched to a 3.05 ERA (143 ERA+). This season, he made the All-Star team on the strength of his 0.74 ERA across 38 appearances for Chicago.
