Kids these days don't have baseball smarts like they did in Terry Pendleton's day. On Saturday night, Braves third baseman Chris Johnson slowed himself down by sliding into first base on an inning-ending ground ball and first base coach Terry Pendleton ain't havin' none of that:
Context: The ground ball required a great diving stop by Jimmy Rollins and the throw just barely beat Johnson to first. Had he run through the bag, he almost certainly would have been safe. There were men on first and second with two outs, and Atlanta eventually lost by one run.
UPDATE: Turns out Pendleton wasn't annoyed by the slide, it was something else:
Apparently, #Braves CJohnson threw his helmet and it hit Pendleton, that was what led to Pendleton grabbing and shoving him in dugout— David O'Brien (@ajcbraves) September 29, 2013
