Not so long ago, Pirates lefty Jeff Locke was an All-Star and a core member of a playoff-bound rotation. However, Locke has struggled badly of late, pitching to a 7.25 ERA and 1.37 K/BB ratio over his final 10 starts. Not long ago, the Pirates decided he would not make another start in 2013. Now, comes this ...

Initially, there was some thought that Locke might fill a bullpen role in the postseason. Now, though, the Pirates have obviously decided against such an approach.

As such, the 25-year-old's season ends with a 10-7 record and a 3.52 ERA (100 ERA+) in 166 1/3 innings.
