Report: Manny Acta visiting with Chicago Cubs

If the Cubs don't get their top managerial choice in Joe Girardi, it appears like they have a contingency plan.

Former Nationals and Indians manager Manny Acta was in Chicago on Monday to meet with Theo Epstein about the position, according to CSNChicago. Acta compiled a disappointing record of 372-518 with the two franchises, and his name, in contrast to that of Girardi's, certainly wouldn't hold the same appeal.

Chicago is also considering San Diego bench coach Rick Renteria as well as Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr.

The Cubs are waiting to hear whether Girardi will accept New York's offer, reportedly worth at least three years and $12 million. The Cubs are reportedly willing to offer a more lucrative deal for the former catcher.
