Happy Anniversary: Don Larsen's perfect game

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

The 10 greatest pitchers in World Series history

Only once in postseason history has a pitcher thrown a perfect game. And it happened exactly 57 years ago Tuesday.

Here's a nice video tribute:

Don Larsen struck out seven while obviously facing only 27 batters. Here's the baseball-reference.com box score.

Larsen, 84, would end his career 81-91 with a 3.78 ERA (99 ERA+) and 1.40 WHIP in 1,548 innings. In the postseason, he was 4-2 with a 2.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 36 innings.

For nine innings in Yankee Stadium 57 years ago, though, Larsen was perfect. In a World Series game. It had never before been done and to this day it still hasn't been done since. Thus, it's one of baseball's immortal moments.
