Twins closer Glen Perkins had arthroscopic surgery to repair the medial meniscus in his right knee on Oct, 1, reports Tyler Mason of FoxSportsNorth.com. The left-hander is expected to be ready in time for spring training.

Perkins, 30, was a first-time All-Star in 2013. He went 36-for-40 in save chances while posting a career-low 2.30 ERA (177 ERA+) in 62 2/3 innings. His 11.1 K/9 and 5.13 K/BB ratio were both career-highs as well.

Since moving into the bullpen full-time in 2011, Perkins has a 2.45 ERA (166 ERA+) and 54 saves with a 4.23 K/BB ratio in 194 2/3 innings. He is under contract for $3.75 million in both 2014 and 2015 with a $4.5 million club option for 2016.
