Insofar as picking the person to toss out the ceremonial first pitch goes, the host Red Sox are already having a good World Series. Prior to Game 1 against the Cardinals in Fenway, Hall of Famer and Sox luminary Carl Yastrzemski will make the first throw.

"Yaz" of course spent 23 seasons in a Boston uniform, and, in addition to winning the triple crown and AL MVP in 1967, tallied 3,419 hits; 452 homers; 1,844 RBI; 646 doubles and seven Gold Gloves across his stellar career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1989. While Yastrzemski never won a World Series in his playing career, he did bat .369/.447/.600 in the postseason.

And here's no. 8 taking a mighty cut back in the day ...
