Plenty of medical news from the Nationals: Three core players -- outfielder Bryce Harper, right-hander Stephen Strasburg and first baseman Adam LaRoche -- have undergone successful surgery in recent days.

Harper's and LaRoche's procedures were on Wednesday, writes MASN's Dan Kolko. In Harper's case, it was to repair the bursa in his left knee, which caused him to miss more than 30 games this season. LaRoche, meantime, had his left (throwing) elbow cleaned out. As for Strasburg, on Friday he underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his prized right elbow. Strasburg, of course, had Tommy John surgery performed on that same elbow in September of 2010.

As Kolko notes, each player is expected to resume baseball workouts in four to six weeks, which would put all three on target to be ready for spring training. However, with Strasburg there's a potential wrinkle. Here's the relevant tweet from Mark Zuckerman ...

Strasburg's progress obviously bears monitoring -- not only because of this procedure and his Tommy John history, but also because of the forearm tightness that limited him down the stretch in 2013.
