Must-see video: Jose Fernandez reunited with grandmother

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez -- the NL Rookie of the Year in 2013 and third-place finisher in Cy Young voting -- defected from Cuba when he was 15 years old with his mother. Left behind, though, was his grandmother, who he has long mentioned was his biggest fan growing up.

Fernandez even has a tattoo with the names of both his mother and grandmother on the inside of his left biceps. He describes his grandmother as a "baseball freak" and says that "everything I do is for her."

Well, the Marlins found a way to get Fernandez's grandmother to America. And here's his surprise reunion:

Amazing story. Amazing moment. Good for the family.
