MORE: EOB picks Trout for AL MVP

As expected, Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera has been named the AL Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season. He received 23 of 30 first place votes and beat out second place Mike Trout and third place Chris Davis.

Cabrera, 30, did not win a second straight Triple Crown, but he did lead all of baseball in batting average (.348), on-base percentage (.442), slugging percentage (.636), OPS (1.078) and OPS+ (187) while swatting 44 home runs and driving in 137 runs. He did all of that while playing through numerous injuries late in the season.

Cabrera already became the eighth Tigers player to win the MVP Award last season, joining Mickey Cochrane (1934), Hank Greenberg (1935, 1940), Charlie Gehringer (1937), Hal Newhouser (1944-45), Denny McLain (1968), Willie Hernandez (1984) and Justin Verlander (2011).

Trout, who led all of baseball with 9.2 WAR, received five first place votes while Davis and Josh Donaldson received one apiece. The full voting results are available at the Baseball Writers Association of America website.
