The White Sox and Paul Konerko have agreed to terms on a deal that will bring the veteran first baseman back for the 2014 season, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has confirmed. Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com originally reported the deal.

Also according to Rosenthal, Konerko's one-year deal is worth $2.5 million, $1 million of which will be deferred until 2021.

Konerko, age 37, is coming off a disappointing 2013 season in which he batted .244/.313/.355 with 12 homers in 126 games. Konerko, a six-time All-Star, has hit 427 of his 434 career homers in a White Sox uniform and has been a fixture on the South Side since being acquired from the Reds in November of 1998.

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf had previously maintained that it was up to Konerko whether he returned for the 2014 season, which figures to be his last. Konerko in the upcoming season will likely DH against left-handers and see limited time at first base.
