Will the Red Sox respond to the Yankees' signing of Jacoby Ellsbury by targeting one of the Yanks' outgoing free agents? That's a possibility, as Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston reports that Granderson may be of interest to the reigning champs, provided the veteran outfielder is willing to settle for a three-year contract.'s Jon Heyman has previously reported that the Mets may be willing to go four years with Granderson.

Granderson, 32, is coming off an injury-compromised 2013 in which he batted .229/.317/.407 (97 OPS+) in 61 games. However, in 2012 he tallied a career-high 43 home runs. For his career, Granderson owns an OPS+ of 117.

The lefty-swinging Granderson at this stage of his career needs to be platooned, but, as Edes notes, he'd make an ideal partner for Jonny Gomes in left field. While Granderson can't pass muster in center any longer, he does have the range to hold down right in Fenway, as well.
