The only way to start Thursday's hot stove roundup is to point you towards Jon Heyman's blog for the latest on Robinson Cano and the Mariners. The winter's top free agent traveled to Seattle on Thursday and the team is prepared to offer him a nine-year contract worth $225 million. The Yankees insist they will not go beyond seven years and $175 million, so something has to give.

Here is the rest of Thursday's hot stove news, which includes six free agent signings and one trade.

Angels: Signed LHP Clay Rapada to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The reliever has held lefty batters to a .164/.255/.231 batting line in his career. (Orange County Register)

Dodgers: Re-signed RHP Brian Wilson to a one-year deal worth $10 million. The contract also includes a player option for 2015 worth $8.5 million.

Marlins: Agreed to a one-year contract with IF Rafael Furcal. He will reportedly move off shortstop and play second base everyday.

Rangers: Signed RHP Jose Contreras, RHP Nathan Adcock and OF Bryan Petersen to minor league contracts, the team announced. All three received an invitation to spring training.

Red Sox: Agreed to terms with RHP Edward Mujica. It's a two-year deal pact valued at $9.5 million.

White Sox: Agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with RHP Ronald Belisario. He had been non-tendered by the Dodgers earlier this week.

Royals: Acquired OF Norichika Aoki from the Brewers for LHP Will Smith. Kansas City remains in the hunt for OF Carlos Beltran despite the Aoki pickup.

SS Erisbel Arruebarruena: The Cuban defector will hold a showcase for clubs this weekend in the Dominican Republic. The Mets will be among the teams in attendance. (New York Daily News)

RHP Scott Feldman: Seeking a three-year, $30 million contract. Not unreasonable considering Phil Hughes landed a three-year, $24 million deal. (ESPN)

OF Curtis Granderson: Seeking a four-year contract worth $64 million. He is talking to the Mets, but they don't want to guarantee the fourth year. (Newsday)

LHP David Price: The Mariners, Dodgers, Angels, Pirates, Rangers, Diamondbacks and Blue Jays are among the teams with serious interest in trading for the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner.

Cubs: Will cede their pick in next week's Rule 5 Draft to the Phillies to settle a grievance. Chicago improperly optioned RHP Lendy Castillo to Triple-A in 2012 after he did not spend required 90 days their active roster in 2011. They took the righty from Philadelphia in the 2010 Rule 5 Draft. (

Nationals: Interested in both LHP Scott Downs and LHP Eric O'Flaherty. They've contacted both southpaws already this winter. ( and Washington Post)

Yankees: Growing more optimistic that RHP Hiroki Kuroda will return for 2014. "He wants to come back ... he is definitely interested in coming back to the Yankees," said GM Brian Cashman to reporters. (Star Ledger)
