The Marlins, both characteristically and uncharacteristically, have been fairly active on the free agent market this offseason, and now they may have their roaming eyes on former Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe. Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com tweets that Miami indeed has Uribe in mind. As well, the White Sox are also angling for a reunion with Uribe, reports Enrique Rojas.

Uribe, age 34, is coming off a 2013 season in which he batted .278/.331/.438 (117 OPS+) in 132 games for the Dodgers. However, that's well above both his career (85 OPS+) and recent norms (exceptionally poor production in his injury-hampered 2011 and 2012 campaigns). With that said, Uribe does grade out as a plus-plus defender at third base.

Already this winter, the Marlins have signed catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Rafael Furcal as their new second baseman.

As for the White Sox, they're in need of an upgrade at the position, and Uribe, who spent five seasons on the South Side, is a familiar face.
