Regarding free agent right-hander Matt Garza, here's this tweet from our own Jon Heyman:

The Diamondbacks, perhaps in part because they just traded away Tyler Skaggs, are looking for rotation help; the Twins have already added Phil Hughes and Ricky Nolasco this winter but want more; and the Angels, even after acquiring Skaggs and Hector Santiago in the Mark Trumbo deal, are still spoiling for pitching. As Heyman notes, that's not an exhaustive list of Garza suitors.

As for Garza, he's a reasonable mid-line starter. This past season, the 30-year-old pitched to a 3.82 ERA (106 ERA+) and career-best 3.24 K/BB ratio in 155 1/3 innings for the Cubs and Rangers. His 2013 campaign didn't begin until late May because of a shoulder/lat strain. For his career, Garza owns a 108 ERA+ across parts of eight major-league seasons.
