The Mariners have acquired 1B/OF Logan Morrison from the Marlins in exchange for right-handed reliever Carter Capps. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman confirms the original report of Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

Morrison, age 25, is coming off a 2013 season in which be batted .242/.333/.375 with six home runs in 85 games. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 107 in two seasons. In 2011, Morrison tallied 23 home runs for the Marlins.

Capps, 23, has a 5.04 ERA and 2.76 K/BB ratio in 84 relief innings spread across two major-league seasons. In those 84 innings, he's recorded 94 strikeouts, but he's also allowed 12 home runs.

Earlier on Wednesday, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reported that the Mariners came to terms with free agent Corey Hart. As such, this means that one of Hart or Morrison will likely man a corner outfield spot in Seattle.
