Internet-based research informs the writer that Comerica Park, home to the Tigers and their sharpened claws, will play host to an array of hockey-related events leading up to a New Year's Eve "alumni showdown" between former Red Wings and Maple Leafs (Leaves?).

For our purposes, here's what it looks like when a baseball field, through groundskeeping sorcery and other black arts, is converted into a hockey rink ...

So that was cool.
