CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Twins have brought back outfielder/DH Jason Kubel on a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training. Kubel, 31, was drafted by the Twins back in 2000, and he spent the first seven seasons of his major-league career in Minnesota.

Last season, Kubel batted a disappointing .216/.293/.317 with five homers in 97 games for the Diamondbacks and Indians. In 2012, however, he tallied 30 homers and 30 doubles for Arizona. Across parts of nine big-league seasons, the left-handed-hitting Kubel owns an OPS+ of 110.
