The Rays have some interest in free agent Juan Uribe, whom they have in mind as a primary first baseman, tweets Ken Rosenthal of Rosenthal adds that Uribe, if the Rays did indeed sign him, would also spot Evan Longoria at third on occasion.

Uribe, age 34, is coming off a 2013 season in which he batted .278/.331/.438 (117 OPS+) in 132 games for the Dodgers. However, he struggled badly in 2011 and 2012, thanks in part to injuries, and his career OPS+ checks in at just 85. Uribe is, however, a standout defender at third, so he'd likely translate into a defensive asset at first base, as well.
