The one that immediately catches my eye is Jackie Robinson's 1947 Rookie of the Year award. Talk about a dream memorabilia item for wealthy baseball fans. That's not even close to being all there is, though.
The auction is taking place on lelands.com and doesn't close until Jan. 10. It also features a 1909 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner baseball card, a Red Schoendiest collection, a Juan Gonzalez collection, a Livan Hernandez collection, a host of championship rings -- including a 2011 Cardinals World Series ring -- and even a game-used Willie Mays bat, pictured here:
“This is one of the best collections of sports memorabilia in the more than 30 years that we've been running sports auctions,” Lelands.com fournder and chairman Joshua Evans said in a statement.
It's not just baseball, either. Christian Laettner's Duke jersey from "The Shot" in 1992 is in there, just as some Gordie Howe game-used skates and some Jim Thorpe moccasins are.
For the full selection, head on over the site. Not all the items are big-ticket enough to feel out of the price range of us "normal" people. For example, two Yankees game-used bats (by Nick Johnson and Jason Giambi) are going for $100 in a set.
