The Diamondbacks and reliever Brad Ziegler have agreed to a two-year contract extension, says, um, Ziegler:

Yes, he broke the news of his signing on Twitter. C'est la vie in the 21st century.

Ziegler was not a free agent, as he was in his final arbitration year, so the D-Backs weren't in danger of losing him. He was set for free agency after this coming season before this new contract. The deal is for two years with a club option, though, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, so Ziegler's new deal buys out at least one year of free agency and possibly two.

Ziegler, 34, had 13 saves and 11 holds against only two blown saves last season with a 2.22 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 73 innings. He's one of the best groundball pitchers in the majors and has been for years.
