Dodgers issue statement on Yasiel Puig's arrest for reckless driving

Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was reportedly arrested Saturday morning in Florida for driving 110 mph on I-75, where the speed limit is 70. Last month, the 23-year-old had speeding and reckless driving charges dismissed in Tennessee, where he was ticketed for going 97 mph in a 50-mph zone.

Now, the Dodgers have released the following statement:

I think in general "Puig angst" is wildly overstated, but this is serious stuff. In my mind, excessive speeding is as much of an affront as driving drunk, as both practices gravely endanger other people on the road, and both offenses are worthy of serious reprimand/punishment.

Note to professional athletes at play: Shared roadways are not life-sized Hot Wheels tracks.
