What follows, which comes to us courtesy of @DugoutLegends, is a photographic image of John Lennon and Paul McCartney -- esteemed purveyors of loud Rock and or Roll music -- playing what appears to be a crude brand of this, our baseball. Please regard:

Being as they are both Englishmen, one would be tempted to think Messrs. Lennon and McCartney might be indulging in a leisured match of cricket on the manor grounds, but, lo, that appears to be a baseball bat and baseball glove. Perhaps the ball is not of regulation size, so maybe it's instead this, our softball. Whatever.

What I'm saying is that John Lennon and Paul McCartney were playing baseball because they realized it was a pursuit of unsurpassed splendor.
