The Astros have signed right-handed reliever Jesse Crain to a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday.'s Jon Heyman reports that the deal will pay Crain $3.25 million for 2014.

Crain, 32, is coming off a 2013 season in which he pitched to an 0.74 ERA and 4.18 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings for the White Sox. Crain was dealt to the Rays leading up to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, but he was unable to pitch for them because of a lingering shoulder strain. For his career, Crain boasts a 143 ERA+ across parts of 10 major-league seasons. He's been one of baseball's most consistent right-handed relievers over that span.

Crain, a University of Houston product, will join Chad Qualls and Matt Albers in a revamped Astros bullpen.
