The Dodgers and Time Warner agreed to a massive television deal worth between $7 billion and $8 billion last year, an agreement that gives the team its own regional network, SportsNet LA. Plans and details about the network have been mostly a secret, but we finally know the launch date courtesy of a billboard along a Los Angeles freeway:
Six weeks and five days from Thursday. Nomar Garciaparra, Orel Hershiser, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Alanna Rizzo (formerly of MLB Network) will be among the network's on-air talent.
The Dodgers are the latest MLB club with their own television network, joining the Yankees (YES), Mets (SNY), Red Sox (NESN), Orioles and Nationals (both MASN).
