A-Rod's lawyer calls Anthony Bosch interview 'a charade'

By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer

MORE: A-Rod suspended for 2014; battle to continue in federal court

In the wake of the Sunday "60 Minutes" interview with Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, MLB commissioner Bud Selig, Alex Rodriguez's attorney Joe Tacopoina and others, Tacopina appeared on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show to further push back against MLB's allegations against his client. The Yankees' third baseman, of course, is facing a suspension for the entirety of the 2014 season after arbitrator Frederic Horowitz handed down his ruling on Saturday.

Among Tacopina's comments regarding Bosch, the key witness against A-Rod:

"You know what? It's really easy to believable when you're not being cross-examined. It's really easy to be believable when you're not being asked by the interviewer from '60 Minutes' about his dealing (performance-enhancing) drugs to kids, and whether that had any basis for him becoming a witness against Alex Rodriguez."

On Bosch's comment to 60 Minutes that it was easy for A-Rod to get away with doping in spite of the testing program in place:

"That's why that interview was so misleading in so many ways. This guy was on the witness stand (in arbitration) for three days. … Here was his takeaway under oath: he had no masking program whatsoever."

And regarding the fallout concerning MLB's relationship with the players:

"A lot of the players are up in arms. We've gotten so many reach-outs from players and players' agents saying, 'How could MLB do this?'"
