The Chicago White Sox have announced that they've agreed to a "multi-year" contract extension with manager Robin Ventura. No further details (dollars or years) were announced.

Ventura's contract was originally a three-year deal, which would have taken him just through this coming 2014 season. So this extension spares him lame duck status.

"There was never really any question in our minds as to who we wanted in the White Sox dugout now and into the future," general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement.

Ventura, 46, went 85-77 and finished in second place in 2012 before the club took a big step back last season, going 63-99 and finishing in last place in the AL Central. He finished third in AL Manager of the Year voting in 2012.
