You'll recall that right-hander Matt Garza was believed to have a four-year, $52 million contract with the Brewers in place earlier this week, but then the Brewers announced that a deal had not been finalized. Whatever the reasons for the holdup, the contract has finally been agreed upon and signed.

The Brewers announced the deal on Sunday, and's Jon Heyman reports that it's a four-year pact that will pay Garza a guaranteed $50 million -- or slightly less than what was originally circulated. Per Heyman, the contract also includes up to $1 million in incentives and a $13 million vesting option for the 2018 season.

As for Garza, 30, last season he 10-6 with a 3.82 ERA (106 ERA+), 1.24 WHIP and 136 strikeouts in 155 1/3 innings for the Cubs and Rangers. In 60 starts for the Cubs, Garza was 21-18 with a 3.45 ERA (115 ERA+) and 1.21 WHIP, so heading back to the NL Central may suit him well. For his career, Garza owns an ERA+ of 108 across parts of eight major-league seasons. Garza has, however, battled injuries in recent years.

The Brewers could certainly use the healthy version of Garza, as they're coming off a 2013 campaign in which they ranked 11th in the NL in rotation ERA and 13th in rotation WAR.
