The Marlins and Nationals are among the teams with interest in Jeff Baker, reports Jon Heyman of The Orioles may also have interest in the free agent utility man.

Baker, 32, hit .279/.360/.545 (143 OPS+) in 74 games for the Rangers last season, but the right-handed hitter had a massive platoon split: 187 OPS+ against lefties but only a 56 OPS+ against righties. Baker has played every position other than shortstop, center field, pitcher and catcher in his nine-year career.

The Nationals would use Baker as a right-handed bat off the bench while the Marlins could give him regular playing time at first or third base. He's a limited player who can be very productive is used properly.

Baker missed more than a month last year after spraining his thumb while high-fiving a teammate. True story.
