VIDEO: Philip Seymour Hoffman as Art Howe in 'Moneyball'

By Mike Axisa | Baseball Writer

Early on Sunday, actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead from an apparent drug overdose in his New York City apartment. He was only 46.

Hoffman was a brilliant (mostly) character actor who appeared in dozens of films, and in 2011 he played former Athletics manager Art Howe in Moneyball. It's reasonable to say Howe was unfairly portrayed in the movie, but he was intended to come off a jerk in the script.
