In just a few hours, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will try to lead his team to its first Super Bowl title. Wilson, as you probably know by now, spent parts of two seasons in the Rockies' minor league system as a light-hitting, slick-fielding second baseman. The Rangers took him in the Rule 5 Draft earlier this offseason and hope to bring him to spring training as a guest instructor.
Wilson hit .229/.354/.356 with five home runs and 19 stolen bases in 93 Single-A games before turning his attention to football. Obviously that decision has worked out rather well for him. Here's a clip of Wilson making a diving stop at second base during his minor league days:
It's not much, but that's Wilson playing some mean infield defense.
