It won't feel like it because pitchers and catchers reporting is rather boring, but spring training is scheduled to begin with the next two weeks. There are still a whole bunch of big name free agents on the board though, many more than usual for this time of year.

It appears as though the market may soon take off, thankfully. A bunch of Scott Boras clients are "very close" to deals according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports:

Maybe not the biggest names out there, but several bullpens would improve with the addition of Oliver Perez, Francisco Rodriguez and/or Suk-Min Yoon. Jeff Baker destroys left-handed pitchers and would improve almost any bench, if not start for several teams.

The market for starters Ubaldo Jimenez, Ervin Santana and Bronson Arroyo is still pretty slow, but that will change soon. It has too. The Blue Jays, Angels, Dodgers, Rangers and Indians are among the teams reportedly looking for a starter, plus other suitors could emerge in a heartbeat. I thought the starting pitching market would get moving once Masahiro Tanaka signing, but these guys won't stay unsigned forever.
