Phillies lefty Cole Hamels says he may not be ready for the start of the 2014 season. Here's the relevant tweet from MLB.com's Todd Zolecki ...

Hamels previously dealt with shoulder problems in 2006 and 2011 and also underwent elbow surgery in 2011. So this bears monitoring.

Hamels, age 30, is coming off a 2013 season in which be pitched to a 3.60 ERA(106 ERA+) and 4.04 K/BB ratio in 220 innings of work. For his career, he owns an ERA+ of 123 across parts of eight major-league seasons. Three times he's finished in the top 10 of the NL Cy Young balloting.

Despite the injuries noted above, Hamels has averaged more than 213 innings per season since 2008.
