As spring training camps open across Florida and Arizona, several big name free agents remain unsigned. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports Ervin Santana has many suitors, including the Mariners, Blue Jays, Orioles, Indians, Rockies and Royals. The right-hander figures to sign soon with pitchers and catchers already reporting.

Here is a roundup of Saturday's news and notes from around the league, including more updates from Heyman.

FREE AGENT SIGNINGS

Cubs: Signed UTIL Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. He will earn $2.5 million if he makes the team with another $525,000 in incentives. Bonifacio turned down major league contract offers to sign with Chicago because he felt they give him the best opportunity. (Heyman)

Giants: Signed UTIL Mark Teahan to a minor league deal that does not include an invitation to spring training. (MLB Daily Dish)

Indians: Signed RHP Aaron Harang to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. The contract is pending a physical. (Heyman)

AVOIDED ARBITRATION

Mariners: Agreed to a one-year deal with 1B Justin Smoak. The deal is worth $2.6375 million and includes a $3.65 million vesting option for 2015. (Sportsnet.ca)

ARBITRATION RULINGS

Indians: Beat RHP Josh Tomlin, who will make $800,000 this season rather than the $975,000 he was seeking.

WAIVER CLAIMS

Orioles: Claimed UTIL Jimmy Paredes off waivers from the Marlins, the team announced. Miami designated him for assignment last week to clear a 40-man roster spot for UTIL Jeff Baker.

ROSTER CUTS

Marlins: RHP Chris Hatcher cleared waivers and has been outrighted off the 40-man roster. He had been designated for assignment to clear room on the roster for RHP Carlos Marmol earlier this week. (MLB.com)

Mets: They were the only team to offer RHP Bartolo Colon a two-year contract, he confirmed.

Red Sox: Manager John Farrell doesn't want a "lingering what-if" in the clubhouse, referring to whether Stephen Drew will re-sign with the team. (WEEI.com)

INJURIES

Angels: LHP Mark Mulder suffered a ruptured Achilles during a workout earlier this week. His comeback attempt is over.

Astros: C Jason Castro said he is healthy and "100 percent ready to go." He had a cyst removed from his knee at the end of last season. (Houston Chronicle)

Athletics: LHP Drew Pomeranz had his scheduled bullpen session pushed back a few days because of a troublesome ingrown hair on his leg. Seriously. (MLB.com)

Cardinals: LHP Jaime Garcia threw a problem-free bullpen session on Friday. He is coming back from labrum surgery. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

Nationals: OF Bryce Harper will be a "full go for spring training." He had knee surgery early in the offseason. (Nats Insider)

Red Sox: RHP Jake Peavy is going to miss a few days with an irritated finger. He was hit by a ball during a workout earlier this week. (MassLive.com)

Rockies: RHP Tyler Chatwood will have some restrictions during spring training. He had bone chips removed from his elbow in October. (Denver Post)

Tigers: RHP Justin Verlander threw a 41-pitch bullpen session as he recovers from core muscle surgery. He said he "should be ready" for the start of the season.
