PHOTO of the day: Bartolo Colon, professional hitter

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Though new Mets signee Bartolo Colon is a 16-year veteran, he's spent the overwhelming majority of his career in the American League. In fact, he made 17 starts for the Expos in 2002 and that's it. Otherwise, he's only been an AL pitcher.

Not surprisingly, Colon isn't too adept with the stick. He's only had 96 at-bats in his entire career -- in 2,583 2/3 innings pitched. Since the beginning of the 2003 season, Colon is 1-for-29 at the plate. His last hit came in 2005 with the Angels. Last season he was 0-for-6 with three strikeouts ... OK, you get the picture.

So without further ado, we present: Bartolo Colon, professional hitter:

That looks, um, awkward.

Suffice it to say, the Mets won't be expecting any Carlos Zambrano-like output from Colon this season.
