While the injury situation of Braves' right-hander Brandon Beachy doesn't yet seem to be as serious as that of teammate Kris Medlen, Beachy will indeed miss at least his next scheduled start. Manager Fredi Gonzalez has confirmed that Beachy, who exited his outing on Monday with biceps tightness, will not pitch as scheduled next time out.
"The Braves remain hopeful that Beachy is simply dealing with normal soreness as he attempts to come back from the two elbow surgeries (Tommy John in 2012 and a cleanup procedure in September) he has undergone in the past 20 months.
But Gonzalez said the team's medical staff would continue to evaluate Beachy over the next few days."
With regard to Beachy, it's not yet panic time, but, as Bowman notes, given the injuries Medlen, Beachy and Mike Minor, the Braves are set to open the season with a rotation of Julio Teheran, Alex Wood, Freddy Garcia and David Hale.
The Braves will need a fifth starter for the first time on April 12.
