For the past three years, Joe Maddon and a number of Rays players, execs and non-player personnel have shaved their heads to raise awareness of and money for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Their 2014 efforts took place on Sunday. Let's have a quick look ...

Maddon got his cut courtesy of 5-year-old cancer patient/fighter Ava:

"When you have little Ave doing your hair it becomes, it really hits home at that point,'' Maddon said (via Marc Topkin, Tampa Bay Times). "You're a dad, you have kids, and you're a grandparent, so it really smacks you. And then you get to meet the parents and the grandparents and you get to understand these moments impact a lot of people, man. And then on top of that the people that are there to care for them."

Matt Joyce, Ben Zobrist, Evan Longoria and David DeJesus got in on the shearing ...

Oh, and speaking of David DeJesus, it seems his wife may not have been aware of those plans to shave his dome ...

As mentioned, it wasn't just Maddon and the players lending their locks ...

As for Wil Myers and his semi-famous rat's nest, he didn't go under the clippers, but he recruited fans to go in his stead and made a donation ...

Finally, no one sacrified more than did groundskeeper Landon Reed ...

Very well done, Rays, as it is every year. It's hard to think of a more worthy cause.
