Another day, another injury for the Nationals. The team announced they have placed outfielder Scott Hairston on the 15-day DL with a left oblique strain. He told reporters he suffered the injury during a swing on Thursday.

Hairston, 33, was acquired from the Cubs in a minor trade last summer. He has one hit in two at-bats off the bench this season. Last year, Hairston hit .191/.237/.414 with 10 home runs in 174 plate appearances for the Cubs and Nats. He is a career .269/.317/.498 hitter against lefties.

Outfielder/first baseman Tyler Moore was called up to fill Hairston's roster spot. The 27-year-old is a .241/.293/.427 career hitter in parts of two seasons with Washington. Moore was much productive in 2012 (123 OPS+) than 2013 (66 OPS+), however.

In addition to Hairston, the Nationals are also without starter Doug Fister (lat strain) and catcher Wilson Ramos (broken hamate). Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had an MRI on his ailing shoulder on Saturday.
