Monday, April 7, marks the 25-year anniversary of the best baseball movie ever -- in my opinion -- hitting theaters: Major League.
Not only that, but there's a Rick Vaughn bobblehead! Check it out:
So much awesome in there.
Man, I can't believe it's been a quarter of a century since we first met Vaughn, Jake Taylor, Eddie Harris, Roger Dorn, Willie Mays Hayes, Pedro Cerrano, Lou Brown and the immortal Harry Doyle.
How many phrases did the movie give us?
"Juuuuuuust a bit outside. Tried the corner and missed."
"Credit Rudy for sacrificing his body on that racket. That guy's got a family to think about."
"Tomlinson's gonna need a visa to catch this one."
"Ball four ... ball eight ... low and Vaughn has walked the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches. How can these guys lay off pitches this close?"
"Vaseline ball ... "
"Nice velocity ... "
"I've been cut already?"
"No way, too high!"
And on and on and on, mixing in the obscenities, of course. In related news, I wanted to embed a YouTube clip of the movie, but none were clean enough, language-wise.
