Right-hander Colby Lewis will join the Rangers' rotation on Saturday, the Rangers announced. He will replace lefty Joe Saunders, who was placed on the DL with an ankle injury after being hit by a comebacker.

Lewis, 34, missed the second half of 2012 and all of 2013 following elbow and hip surgeries. He allowed four runs (two earned) in five innings for the team's Triple-A affiliate in his only rehab start. Lewis had been working out in extended spring training before that.

In 16 starts and 105 innings back in 2012, Lewis went 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA (128 ERA+) and a stellar 6.64 K/BB ratio. He has gone 32-29 with a 3.93 ERA (113 ERA+) in 80 starts for Texas after coming back from Japan for the 2010 season.

The Rangers welcomed Yu Darvish back to the rotation on Sunday, and now they're getting Lewis back next weekend. Lefty Matt Harrison, who is currently on a rehab assignment, figures to join them shortly.
