Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman wsa removed from the lineup in the middle of the fifth inning Saturday night after appearing to injure his right thumb while diving back to second base. He was picked off on the play, but took a while to get off the field as he was shaking his thumb in obvious pain.

And after the game, Nationals manager Matt Williams told reporters that Zimmerman suffered a fracture and will miss four to six weeks (via Nationals on Twitter).

Danny Espinosa went to second base while Anthony Rendon shifted to third upon Zimmerman's exit. Expect this alignment to be the one the Nationals use on a daily, basis for the most part, with Zimmerman on the shelf.

Zimmerman is hitting .364/.405/.636 with three doubles, two homers and six RBI thus far in 2014. He's dealing with a debilitating shoulder issue, which hampers his defense, but losing him is definitely be a big blow to the Washington offense.
