Braves closer Craig Kimbrel reported no issue with his shoulder during a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has not pitched since Saturday due to soreness, though he has not been placed on the DL either.

“Ball was coming out of my hand good, off-speed was good, nothing was uncomfortable. That's what I wanted to feel and that's what we felt today, so hopefully I get back out there," said Kimbrel. “I didn't really throw hard enough to feel anything (Tuesday). I threw today, ramped it up to see what it felt like, and it felt great. So it's exciting. I'm ready to get back out there in a save situation.”

Kimbrel, 25, has been healthy throughout his entire career, so this is his first arm problem of any kind. He insisted he was good enough to pitch these last few days, but the team decided to shut him down and play it safe for obvious reasons.

In 5 2/3 innings this season, Kimbrel has allowed one run while striking out a dozen. He saved 138 games from 2011-13 with a 1.48 ERA and 341 strikeouts in only 206 2/3 innings.

The Braves signed Kimbrel to a four-year, $42 million contract extension right before spring training.
