UPDATE: According to a live update during the SportsNet LA broadcast, the team's training staff confirmed X-rays were negative. The Dodgers have since officially announced the news. Exhale, Dodgers fans.

Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez left Wednesday night's game after being hit by a pitch in the left hand. He was in obvious pain afterwards, and while he tried to talk manager Don Mattingly and the training staff into allowing him to stay in, he was removed from the game immediately.

Here are two angles of the pitch:

Ramirez, 30, missed the start of last season with a thumb injury suffered while diving for a ball during the World Baseball Classic. He also missed time with a hamstring problem. Despite the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, it's pretty clear Ryan Vogelsong did not hit Hanley intentionally.

In 14 games coming into Wednesday, Ramirez was hitting .291/.381/.527 (147 OPS+) with seven doubles and two home runs. He hit a robust .345/.402/.638 (189 OPS+) with 20 home runs in 86 games after returning from the thumb and hamstring problems last season.

The Dodgers have not yet released an update on Ramirez. Obviously losing him for any length of time would be devastating.
