The Reds on Saturday placed catcher Devin Mesoraco on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Mesoraco sustained the injury on Friday night against the Braves.

To replace Mesoraco on the active roster, the team has recalled catcher Tucker Barnhart from Triple-A Louisville. Brayan Pena figures to serve as the primary catcher in Mesoraco's absence.

This season, the 25-year-old Mesoraco is off to an incredibly hot start: .468/.509/.787 in 53 plate appearances. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 87 across parts of four big-league seasons.
