Reds leadoff man Billy Hamilton was forced to leave Thursday's game before he even took a plate appearance due to a hand injury. Here's the play that he injured himself, making an excellent play to rob Carlos Gomez of extra bases in the top of the first inning:

The broadcast passed along that Hamiton sprained the third and fourth knuckles on his left hand, which should amount to a minor, day-to-day type injury.

Hamilton, 23, is hitting .245/.280/.330 with 11 stolen bases so far this season, but he's picked it up of late. In fact, since his dreadful first week he's hitting .280/.310./378 with three doubles, a triple, a homer, six RBI, 13 runs and 11 stolen bases in 21 games.
