The Yankees will retire former manager Joe Torre's uniform No. 6 during a ceremony on August 23, the team announced. Torre was unanimously elected into the Hall of Fame by the Expansion Era Committee over the winter.

Torre spent 12 years (1996-2007) as manager of the Yankees, presiding over their most recent dynasty in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The team went 1,173-767 (.605) under his watch, winning 10 division titles, six AL pennants and four World Series.

With No. 6 being retired and Derek Jeter's No. 2 sure to be retired in the future, the Yankees are out of single digit numbers. They have all been retired. Here's the list:

1 -- Billy Martin
2 -- Jeter (eventually)
3 -- Babe Ruth
4 -- Lou Gehrig
5 -- Joe DiMaggio
6 -- Torre
7 -- Mickey Mantle
8 -- Yogi Berra and Bill Dickey
9 -- Roger Maris

The Yankees will also honor former players Goose Gossage, Tino Martinez, Paul O'Neill and Tino Martinez with plaques in Monument Park this summer, they announced. Bernie Williams will be honored next season.
